Anti-aging and longevity
Not recommended
Meloxicam is an NSAID with preferential COX-2 selectivity. It is prescribed for osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis (AEMPS Ficha Técnica). In anti-aging regimens, meloxicam is used as a mild NSAID for long-term use in age-related joint pain. Regular use in people without confirmed osteoarthritis or other inflammatory pathology is not justified: 2020 and 2023 recommend non-pharmacological approaches (weight loss, exercise, physiotherapy) as the basis for joint complaints, with NSAIDs reserved for short flare courses. Meloxicam's COX-2 selectivity is incomplete and decreases at higher doses. The drug carries specific risks: gastrointestinal bleeding, blood-pressure elevation, acute kidney injury, and cardiovascular events. If meloxicam was prescribed for chronic use in age-related joint pain, consider seeking a second opinion.
