Anti-aging and longevity
Not recommended
Celecoxib is a selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor (coxib). It is prescribed for osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and acute pain control (AEMPS Ficha Técnica). In anti-aging regimens, celecoxib is positioned as a coxib for suppressing aging-related inflammation and a GI-safe NSAID for chronic use. Long-term use in people without a confirmed inflammatory disease is not justified: 2020, 2023, and the Cochrane review by Curtis 2017 do not support NSAIDs as prophylaxis against aging-related inflammation. COX-2 selectivity reduces GI bleeding risk but does not eliminate cardiovascular risk: the PRECISION 2016 trial showed comparable myocardial infarction and stroke risk to other NSAIDs. If celecoxib was prescribed for chronic anti-inflammatory use, consider seeking a second opinion.
